PROJECT SUMMARY
The Wild Blue Car Wash in Aurora is a great example of the creative use of an irregular, almost undevelopable lot. While it’s relatively large for a car wash at 0.85 acres, the L-shape lot made building location and access very challenging. The north-south orientation of the building along the vertical leg of the “L” was really our only option, but traffic flow and vacuum stall locations required additional creativity. We approached 7-Eleven with some ideas and with their cooperation, we managed to circulate traffic through the southern portion of their lot without disrupting their operations. Great support from the Client, 7-Eleven and the County planners was essential in making this project possible.

Not to be outdone by the site restrictions, the design team was required to incorporate brick in to the building design. Brick, or any veneer, is cost prohibitive and puts an undue burden on the business model. We proposed Spec-Brik from Concrete Products Group. This product is structurally similar to traditional CMU, but with brick proportions and finish. It turned out to be a cost effective solution to providing a brick finish with a CMU product.

The inclusion of the STI belt and Sonny’s equipment provides both a great experience and high-quality wash. With this formula, we look for this to be our Client’s most successful location.
