When Jason and Christi Gordon first approached Hover to design their express carwash, CJ’s Carwash, in Concordia, we had to double check that we had the right address. We’re so used to designing sites with massive traffic counts dotting busy metros like Denver, Los Angeles, and Dallas, that Concordia, Kansas never really crossed our mind. Before starting anything, we needed to know why here and how this carwash was going to be different from the rest.

Jason and Christi have deep connections to the Concordia area. Christi grew up in nearby Beloit and frequently visited Concordia, while Jason has family ties in the area. Many holidays had been spent in town surrounded by grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Their decision to establish CJ’s Carwash in Concordia was influenced by these personal connections and a desire to revitalize a familiar location, the site of the old bowling alley they both visited as children, which had burned down. They felt a strong pull to bring new life to this spot, transforming a cherished piece of their past into a valuable asset for the community.
STAND OUT DESIGN FEATURES OF CJ'S CARWASH
The goal for Hover Architecture was to design a state-of-the-art express tunnel car wash that would serve the Concordia community. The project aimed to create a facility that not only offers top-notch car wash services but also integrate eco-friendly practices and free amenities, reflecting the Gordons’ commitment to quality and community support.
Hover Architecture partnered with the Gordons from day one, helping shape a vision that blended modern design, operational efficiency, and customer-first thinking. The result was a facility that’s as polished as the cars it cleans. Featuring high-performance wash equipment, EV charging, intuitive site flow, and a suite of thoughtful amenities including free vacuums, towels, mud wash, and detailing stations. The building itself reflects CJ’s commitment to quality and sustainability, with eco-conscious systems that reduce water waste and support long-term environmental goals.
From clean lines and bright signage to the welcoming drive-up layout, every detail was designed to make car care easy, enjoyable, and memorable. CJ’s Carwash isn’t just a place to wash your car, it’s a local experience, built for Concordia, by owners who care deeply about the community.
